Biography and Tour
A guitar virtuoso and master of tone, Eric Johnson is one of the most respected musicians in the rock, blues, and jazz genres. A native of Austin, Texas, Johnson began playing guitar at the age of eleven and quickly developed into a prodigiously talented musician. He cites his major influences as Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, and Merle Travis.
As a teenager, Johnson toured with legendary bluesmen Stevie Ray Vaughan and Johnny Winter. He also released his first album, Tones, in 1986 to critical acclaim.
His 1990 album Ah Via Musicom was a commercial success, reaching the top spot on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart and earning a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
Johnson has continued to tour and release albums throughout his career, and his live shows are highly sought-after by fans. He frequently incorporates improvisation into his sets, making each performance a unique experience.
